The lies just keep piling up… And congress continues to do nothing

Tom Homan was making the rounds again defending the actions of ICE. In one interview Tom Homan said that the ICE agents are well trained and that halting the automobile stops was not a change in policy but rather to review what is going on and to make improvement.

It sounds good. We should all strive to make improvements.

The problem here is that when there is no accountability at all levels of ICE, including the leadership, this behavior will continue. The ICE agents (the use of officer or police officer for an ICE Agent is problematic in itself) have killed innocent Americans with no punishment. Legalized murder. No body cams, which Congress approved $70 Billion in funding with some of those funds allocated for body worn cameras.

Should we eliminate ICE? No. But there needs to be accountability. The process needs to be as open as possible where we can get reliable and credible information about this process. No hostile kidnappings of innocent people shipped to the middle of nowhere in Texas… And then if found to be allowed to stay in the US, just released with no way to get home. The use of 3rd party prison companies should not be used with little to no insight into those facilities. Agents need to be held accountable for their actions just like police officers and any other law enforcement officials are. And just like other police departments, ICE cannot and should not be able to investigate itself.

On top of these heavy handed tactics, we are fed lies. Lies about the actions of ICE agents. Lies about the conditions in holding facilities. Lies about the policies being used.

We need better.
